Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Postal operator profits rise 18.4% until September to €32.8M

Lisbon, Oct. 31, 2025 (Lusa) - The Portuguese postal operator, CTT, reported a net income rise of 18.4% in the first nine months of the year, compared to the same period in 2024, to €32.8 million, Correios de Portugal announced on Thursday.

Between January and September, operating income reached €911.2 million, 15% more than a year earlier, driven by the "strong performance of Express & Parcels, including the consolidation of Cacesa as of 30 April 2025, as well as the continued growth of Banco CTT and the increase in the placement of public debt in financial services".

Earnings before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 21.9% to €134.8 million.

In the first nine months, Logistics reached €775.8 million, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%, representing 85% of CTT's total revenue, while Express & Parcels reached €434.2 million (+31.4%), "being the area that contributes most to CTT's revenue (48%), thanks to the growth of e-commerce in the Iberian Peninsula and the consolidation of Cacesa", said CTT.

Banking and Financial Services totalled €135.4 million at the end of September, up 19.1% year-on-year, driven by the increase in the placement of public debt, which has been recovering in relation to the first nine months of 2024, "and by the sustained growth of Banco CTT".

The Express & Parcels segment recorded recurring EBIT of €36.5 million, an increase of 51.6%, including the impact of Cacesa's consolidation as of 30 April 2025.

'This growth was mainly driven by the increase in traffic, which reached 108.4 million items' in September, up 10.4%, “with an average of around 582,000 items processed per working day”.

CTT stresses that September was impacted "by the typhoon of great intensity that occurred in some areas of China, which caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights and interruption of economic activities and logistics chains, retaining a significant volume of parcel traffic that ended up delaying its entry into CTT, by a higher average revenue per item, and by the consolidation of Cacesa in the first half (from 30 April 2025)".

At the end of September, the number of CTT employees was 13,954, including permanent staff and fixed-term contracts.
