ALGIERS, 22 October 2025 (APS) - Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab has met with Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Mohamed Hamel, in the Qatari capital Doha, to discuss the developments in the global gas market on the eve of his participation in the 27th ministerial meeting, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The meeting, attended by the Algerian ambassador to Qatar and officials from both sides, addressed "the developments in the global gas market and its future prospects, and a number of regulatory and administrative issues related to the management of the forum," according to the statement.

The two officials broached "the forum's strategic objectives and ways to develop its performance mechanisms to enhance its role in supporting global market stability." They also highlighted the role of the Algiers-based forum's Gas Research Institute (GRI) in developing technical knowledge and promoting innovation in the gas industry."(APS)
