Luanda, Oct. 13, 2025 (Lusa) – The Angolan government on Monday urged Chinese entrepreneurs to expand investments in infrastructure and connectivity in the country, guaranteeing a commitment to the digitisation of business sectors and an environment conducive to investments and partnerships that promote long-term economic development.
According to Angola's Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, Mário Oliveira, technological transformations and innovations in Angola are boosting several national industries and enabling thousands of young people to gain long-term employment.
"With the support of companies from China and Angola, we are consolidating a mutually beneficial strategic partnership that has lasted for more than 15 years and has yielded satisfactory results," the Angolan minister said today at the opening of the conference on "The Influence of the Chinese Business Sector on Angola's Domestic Economy."
The minister praised and thanked all Chinese entrepreneurs who have invested in the Portuguese-speaking African country, asking them to "continue to apply [in Angola] all their intelligence and technological wisdom, which is among the most advanced in the world, and to continue to invest in infrastructure and connectivity".
Mário Oliveira assured Chinese entrepreneurs that his ministry is committed to encouraging the digitisation of business sectors, "thus creating an environment conducive to investments and partnerships that promote long-term economic development".
According to the Angolan minister, the strengthening of trade relations between China and Angola has proved to be a fundamental pillar for boosting the Angolan economy, and he also highlighted the "significant growth" in trade between the two countries.
Trade between the two countries "has grown significantly, boosting not only Angolan exports but also creating investment and employment opportunities that directly benefit Angolans," he said.
Luanda and Beijing have been cooperating for 42 years and the volume of trade reached US$24 billion (€20.6 billion) in 2024.
Mário Oliveira also highlighted China's "significant contribution" to the construction of infrastructure to leverage the Angolan media business sector and to the training and capacity building of Angolan staff in the sector he oversees.
The conference, which is taking place in Luanda, is co-organised by Angolan television station TV ZIMBO, which is celebrating its 17th anniversary, and the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce, and also marks Angola's 50 years of independence.
