ATA - Domestic demand growth, consumption increases by 3.88%

TIRANA, October 1 /ATA/ The consumption of the population, one of the main indicators of economic vitality and family well-being, marked an increase of 3.88% in the second quarter of 2025, compared to the same period last year.

Data published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) show that the Albanian economy is steadily relying on domestic demand, with family consumption accounting for the largest share in the structure of total expenditures.

The increase in population consumption has been driven by several elements, such as the increase in disposable income for families, thanks to wage increase policies in the public and private sectors, price stability -which has contributed to maintaining purchasing power for a significant part of basic goods and services- as well as increased consumer confidence in the economy.

Household final consumption includes all goods and services used by resident households to meet their individual needs, such as food, energy, transportation, education, health and other necessary services.

A steady increase in this indicator is considered a positive signal for the performance of the economy, as it stimulates activity in the main sectors of production and services.

The positive trend in the final consumption of the population remains a key component for generating further economic growth in the country. /j.p/p.s./
