Jannik Sinner beat American Learner Tien 6-2 6-2 in Beijing in the final of the China Open on Wednesday to complete a successful return to action after his defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the US Open last month.
The loss at Flushing Meadows meant the 24-year-old Italian also surrendered the top spot in the world ranking to his Spanish rival.
"Today I'm happy," said Sinner.
"Now let's see how the end of the season goes".
He thanked the Chinese fans, saying they made him feel at home, and the many Italians who were watching his match on TV.
He is set to take part in the Shanghai Masters next.
