NNA - On September 18, Instituto Guimarães Rosa - Beirut, IGR-Beirut, hosted the opening of the photography exhibition “A Realm of My Senses – Niemeyer’s Legacy Through the Lenses of Nadine Ashkar”, organized by the Embassy of Brazil in partnership with the Niemeyer Heritage Foundation Tripoli.
The black-and-white series by Lebanese photographer Nadine Ashkar reimagines Oscar Niemeyer’s unfinished modernist masterpiece in Tripoli, evoking the dialogue between architecture and the human form. The exhibition is open to the public until October 10, 2025. The initiative reflects the Embassy’s efforts to promote Niemeyer’s legacy in Lebanon and to give visibility to the Rachid Karami International Fair (RKIF), inscribed in 2023 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site — the first of Niemeyer’s works outside Brazil to receive this recognition.
The opening gathered over 100 guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, the Director of UNESCO Office in Beirut, Lebanese authorities — among them the President of theEdit Profile RKIF Council — as well as representatives of the Brazilian community, local media, and the cultural scene. -- Brazil Embassy in Lebanon
