Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market opens stronger with Altri climbing 0.61%

Lisbon, Sept. 15, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock exchange was trading higher on Monday morning, with Altri and BCP leading the gains, rising 0.61% to €4.93 and 0.47% to €0.72.

At around 9.40 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI maintained its opening trend and rose 0.17% to 7,760.94 points, with eight shares rising, five falling and two remaining unchanged (Corticeira Amorim at €7.57 and Ibersol at €9.90).

Altri and BCP shares were followed by Jerónimo Martins, Semapa and Galp, which rose 0.37% to €21.74, 0.34% to €17.90 and 0.28% to €16.11.

On Friday, after the market closed, Galp announced to the market the acquisition of a 27.5% stake in Block 4 of São Tomé and Príncipe, reinforcing its presence in the São Toméan offshore, entering a block in the initial exploration phase, with a limited financial commitment.

More moderately, shares in Navigator, Sonae and EDP rose 0.25% to €3.27, 0.15% to €1.32 and 0.03% to €3.85.

On the other hand, shares in EDP Renováveis, REN and Mota-Engil fell 0.51% to €9.79, 0.34% to €2.96 and 0.30% to €5.03.

NOS and CTT shares fell 0.25% to €3.92 and 0.14% to €7.34.

The main European stock markets opened higher today, focussed on the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) interest rate decision on Wednesday.

The market has already anticipated a 25 basis point cut in the Fed's key rates, the first cut in the last nine months.

The markets will also be paying close attention to the decisions that other central banks will make this week, as the Bank of England (BoE) will meet on Thursday and the Bank of Japan (BoJ) on Friday.

Today, the stock markets will focus on the publication of the July trade balance for the eurozone and Italy, and the Bundesbank's monthly report.

Wall Street futures point to rises of 0.15% for the Dow Jones and 0.16% for the Nasdaq.

Brent, Europe's benchmark crude oil for delivery in November, is advancing to $67.23, up from $66.99 on Friday.

The euro is stronger at $1.1737 on the Frankfurt exchange, compared to $1.1734 on Friday and a new high since 15 September 2021, of $1.1789, on 02 July.
