Lisbon, Sept. 8, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Monday, with the PSI index rising 0.65 % to 7,754.11 points, in line with the main European markets.
Of the 15 shares that are included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), 11 were in positive territory and four closed in the red.
Mota-Engil led the way with its shares rising 9.41% to €5.58.
On Friday, the company won the concession to build and operate an underwater tunnel between the Brazilian cities of Santos and Guarujá for 30 years, the first of its kind in Brazil and the most expensive infrastructure project of Lula da Silva's government.
The project involves an investment of 6.8 billion reais (around €1.073 billion), which the concessionaire will carry out in a public-private partnership with Brazil's Ministry of Ports and Airports and the regional government of the state of São Paulo.
CTT and Corticeira Amorim round off the podium of the highest gaining shares in today's session with gains of 2.68 % to €7.29 and 1.62 % to €7.53, respectively.
Jerónimo Martins and Sonae led the losses with their shares falling 0.82 % to €21.72 and 0.77 % to €1.29.
In the rest of Europe, the day also saw gains. London gained 0.14%, Madrid 1.02%, Frankfurt 0.89% and Paris 0.78%.
