Macau, China, Aug. 22, 2025 (Lusa) - Macau welcomed more than 3.4 million visitors in July, an increase of 14.5% year-on-year, according to figures released today by the authorities.
After receiving 3.65 million visitors in January this year, July is already the second month in 2025 with the most visitors, according to a statement from the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).
Of the 3,458,366 visitors who travelled to the territory, more than half (1,980,732) were excursionists, which represents an increase of 24.1% on the same month last year, the DSEC statement said.
The number of tourists (1,477,634) also rose by 3.7% year-on-year, it adds.
The majority of visitors (2,563,212) came from mainland China - up 17.4% - with 625,343 arriving from Hong Kong and 92,037 from Taiwan, a year-on-year increase of 6.2% and 21.4% respectively.
With regard to international visitors (177,774), DSEC also says that the increase was 2.8%.
Between January and July, the number of visitors to Macau totalled 22,676,906, 14.9% more than in the same period in 2024.
