ZAGREB, 20 Aug (Hina) - The Ilok Grape Harvest will take place from 5 to 7 September, and the organisers of the 58th edition of this event said.
The organisers say they are promising a rich cultural, entertainment, and food and wine programme.
For all visitors to this year’s Ilok Grape Harvest, this is a unique opportunity to experience the grape harvest as it used to be done – by hand, with laughter and song, in the heart of the Srijem vineyards, the organisers announce.
Throughout all three days of the event, visitors will have the opportunity to find their favourite among top-quality Ilok wines, available for tasting at the Wine Fair and various themed wine-tasting programmes. In Ilok, guests can sample white varieties such as Graševina, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Silvaner, and Traminac, as well as red varieties like Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch (Frankovka), and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Ilok is particularly renowned for its Traminac (Gewürztraminer), the organisers note, a wine that was famously served at the English court during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
All the programmes of the 58th Ilok Grape Harvest will take place at various locations within the old town, a medieval urban cente, which is a nationally protected heritage site of the highest category.
