Lisbon, Aug. 18, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Monday, with the PSI index rising 1.28% to 7,880.25 points, with EDP Renováveis gaining more than 6%.
Of the 15 listed companies that make up the PSI, 10 rose and five fell.
Leading the risers was EDP Renováveis, which gained 6.21% more to €10.34.
EDP Renováveis' shares have been on the rise since the stock market opened, boosted by guidance from the US Treasury Department on tax subsidies for renewable projects, whose new rules were considered by investors to be less “heavy” than expected.
Donald Trump's administration had determined in July to modify the tax regime for renewable projects, specifying that subsidies are not awarded to solar and wind projects that start generating energy after 2027. The exception applies when construction begins by the beginning of July 2026.
Also noteworthy in today's stock market session were Mota-Engil, which added 2.52% to €5.70, EDP, which added 1.88% to €3.79, NOS, which increased 1.32% to €3.84, CTT, which rose 1.29% to €7.83 and Ibersol, which expanded 1.04% to €9.72.
Gaining less than 1% were BCP (€0.78), Jerónimo Martins (€20.96), Sonae SGPS (€1.30) and Semapa (€17.86).
In the opposite direction, Corticeira Amorim led the declines, falling 0.53% to €7.53.
Also down less than 1% were Altri (€5.05), Navigator (€3.28), REN (€2.97) and Galp (€16.16).
In the rest of Europe, Paris fell 0.50%, Frankfurt 0.18% and Madrid 0.17%, while London rose 0.21%.
