Lusa - Business News - Macau: Casino operator Wynn Macau sees $128.3M Q2 profits down 20% YoY

Macau, China, Aug. 8, 2025 (Lusa) - Casino operator Wynn Macau reported operating profits of US$128.3 million (€110 million) in the second quarter of 2025, down 20.78% from the same period in 2024, it was announced on Friday.

The company said adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortisation and rent (EBITDAR) for the gambling concessionaire in Macau in the second quarter reached US$253.7 million (€217.7 million), down 9.5% from a year earlier.

Properties operated by Wynn Macau recorded revenues of US$883.5 million (€758.6 million) between April and June, a figure that remained virtually unchanged (-0.2%) compared to the same period in 2024, announced Wynn Resorts Ltd, which operates two casino resorts in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR): Wynn Macau, on the peninsula, and Wynn Palace, in Cotai.

By property, Wynn Palace's operating revenue decreased 1.5% year-on-year to US$539.6 million (€460.8 million), while the property's adjusted EBITDAR fell 14.8% to US$157.2 million (€135 million).

Wynn Macau posted operating revenue of US$343.8 million (€295.2 million), up 1.9% from the previous year, with adjusted EBITDAR advancing slightly to US$96.5 million (€82.9 million).

The Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace casinos accounted for most of the company's turnover, generating US$741.7 million (€636.9 million) in revenue, 2.2% more than in the second quarter of last year.

“In Macau, although VIP retention negatively affected results, we generated a healthy market share and significant free cash flow, supporting our continued investment in our Macau properties,” said Craig Billings, executive chairman of Wynn Resorts Ltd., quoted in the parent company’s statement.

In half-year terms, Wynn Macau posted operating profits of US$255.4 million (€219.2 million) between January and June 2025, down 30.5% from the first six months of last year.

Recent data from the Macau Government indicate that casinos in the region recorded an increase of 6.5% in accumulated gross revenue in annual terms, with a total of 140.896 billion patacas (about €14.93 billion) compared to 132.348 billion patacas (€14.03 billion) between January and July 2024.

The world's gambling capital, Macau is the only place in China where casino gambling is legal. Six concessionaires operate in the territory, whose concession contract for the next ten years came into force on 1 January 2023.
