Lusa - Business News - Angola: Luanda railways suspend services due to insecurity

Luanda, July 29, 2025 (Lusa) - The Luanda Railway (CFL) announced on Tuesday the temporary suspension of all train services as a preventive measure to safeguard passengers and workers after acts of vandalism and stone throwing injured people and damaged property.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the company said it took the decision to protect passengers and workers from “acts of vandalism and social disorder”.

The incidents in question include the stoning of trains in service and obstacles on the railway line, which resulted in injuries to police officers and damage to two diesel multiple units (DMUs).

The suspension will remain in place until the security situation improves, and the measure may be reversed depending on how events unfold.

The CFL strongly condemned “these acts of vandalism and gratuitous violence” and regretted the disruption caused, reiterating its commitment to continue serving the population as soon as security conditions are restored.
