Lisbon, July 11, 2025 (Lusa) - Workers on CP - Comboios de Portugal long-distance train bars will be on strike from Friday until Sunday, accusing ITAU, the company that operates the service, of delaying compliance with the revision of the company agreement.
“FESAHT [Federation of Trade Unions of Workers in Agriculture, Food, Beverages, Hospitality and Tourism in Portugal] has been engaged in negotiations with ITAU from the outset to find a solution that preserves rights and income,” therefore the workers decided in a plenary meeting to strike at the beginning of the first two shifts on 11, 12 and 13 July 2025,” reads a statement from the federation released on Wednesday.
The union federation accuses the company of wanting to disregard the revision of the 2025 company agreement signed with the previous concessionaire.
At issue are, for example, work schedules that respect the eight-hour day and 35-hour week, payment for work on Saturdays and Sundays with a 25% increase, as well as a daily meal allowance of €11.50, responsibility bonuses, transport allowance and the payment of seniority bonuses of €20 each.
FESAHT also reported that, after receiving the strike notice, the company sent emails and letters to workers “seeking to establish proportionality for the strike and informing workers that they might face unjustified absence records, the remaining hours of their shift, and disciplinary proceedings”.
