Three-time slam winner, world number one and top seed Jannik Sinner beat number 10 seed Ben Shelton of USA in three sets, 7-6 6-4 6-4, to qualify for the semi-finals of Wimbledon Wednesday.
The 23-year-old South Tyrolean will meet either Serb great Novak Djokovic, the record 24 slam winner and seven-time Wimbledon champ, or his own countryman Flavio Cobolli, who is currently one-set all in their quarter.
Sinner, who was playing with a compress sleeve on his right arm after an injury against Gregor Dimitrov in the last 16, where the Bulgarian retired hurt, is aiming for his first title in South West London.
Sinner has won two Aussie Opens and a US Open but recently lost the French Open to world number two and five-time slam winner Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the longest final at Roland-Garros ever after holding three match points in the fourth set.
