Deputy Shipping Minister Marina Hadjimanolis will meet with Mike Kane, Minister for maritime issues of the United Kingdom, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and will also hold a series of meetings to promote Cyprus' candidacy for election to the Council of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), during her official visit in London between 6 and 9 July.
Hadjimanolis departed for London on Sunday, a Deputy Ministry press release said today.
"The focus of her visit will be a bilateral meeting with the UK Minister for maritime affairs, Mike Kane, where they will discuss issues of cooperation falling within the remit of the two Ministries, as well as current issues, with an emphasis on geopolitical issues affecting the shipping sector," it added.
During her visit to London, Hadjimanolis will meet with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth and hold a series of meetings to promote Cyprus' candidacy for membership of the IMO Council in the upcoming elections in November, the press release concluded.
