Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Portugal Fashion kicks off 30th edition in north region on Tuesday

Porto, Portugal, July 1, 2025 (Lusa) - Portugal Fashion returns to the catwalks on Tuesday with a special edition celebrating its 30th anniversary until 5 July, with more than 30 designers presenting their collections in Porto, Famalicão, Matosinhos and Gondomar.

The Electric Car Museum in Porto will be the headquarters of Portugal Fashion Experience 2025, hosting fashion shows, brand activations, a start-up exhibition and professional meetings.

"This edition celebrates our past, but above all it is a commitment to the future. Portugal Fashion wants to continue to be a driving force for Portuguese fashion, connecting designers, industry and the region with a vision of innovation and sustainability. We believe in the power of fashion as an economic and cultural force, capable of projecting Portugal to the world," Portugal Fashion director Mónica Neto told the Lusa news agency.

Portugal Fashion is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a "decentralised, immersive and strategic edition, crossing fashion, region and innovation from 1 to 5 July". The theme of this edition is ‘Fashion, Lifestyle & Innovation’, which will present a model "designed to bring the creative sector closer to industry, the entrepreneurial community and the region".

In this special edition, Portugal Fashion is also taking Portuguese fashion to new stages, including gastronomic, cultural and industrial experiences, always with a sustainable and innovation-oriented approach, as the presentation reveals.

The event will cover various areas of northern Portugal, with activities in places such as the Douro region, on a farm in Alijó, Matosinhos, Gondomar and Famalicão.

The strategy is one of "territorial decentralisation that reinforces the role of fashion in enhancing tourist, industrial and cultural assets", explains Portugal Fashion in a press release.

Between today and Saturday, Portugal Fashion Experience 2025 will feature collections by designers Miguel Vieira, David Catalán (both of whom took their collections to Milan Men's Fashion Week this month), Pé de Chumbo, Davii, Estelita Mendonça, Hugo Costa, Maria Gambina, Susana Bettencourt, Nopin and Achor.

The Portuguese duo Marques'Almeida will make their presentation on a farm in Alijó, in the district of Vila Real, with a landscape marked by terraced vineyards, where the Douro, Tua, Tinhela and Pinhão rivers meet. And the Ernest W. Baker brand, by the duo Inês Amorim and Reid Baker, will participate in the event with an exclusive presentation for Portugal Fashion.

The fashion event will also present the finalists of the Bloom competition, at the former Vasco da Gama canning factory in Matosinhos, with the award ceremony for the winners. It will also launch the first edition of Bloom Incubator, with the presence of ten African designers, present on the Canex platform, and debut an unprecedented partnership with Saudi Arabia.

The first edition of Portugal Fashion, 30 years ago, was attended by international models such as Claudia Schiffer and Elle MacPherson, at the fashion shows in Porto. Over the years, the event has become international, taking Portuguese fashion to fashion weeks in Paris, Rome, Milan and New York.

According to the organisers, this special edition in the summer of 2025 marks the strategic repositioning of the event as a national platform for communication, business and innovation.

"More than a calendar of fashion shows, this edition offers an immersive and decentralised experience that combines fashion, lifestyle and technology, highlighting Portugal as a true global fashion hub," reads a press release sent to Lusa.

This edition will also include the Portugal Fashion Summit, a space for reflection and sharing where designers, investors, journalists, brands and start-ups will come together and accompany the event throughout the week.
