Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed that he turned down the chance to take over Juventus before signing the contract to become AS Roma's new coach during his presentation as the Rome club's boss on Tuesday.
"Did Juve try to get me? Yes, but I had the sensation that Roma was the right road, regardless of the risks that you all remind me of every day," Gasperini, who has moved to the capital after a successful nine-year stint at Atalanta, told reporters at a press conference.
"I think that, for my way of playing football and ability to make an impact, this could be the right situation for me.
"I'm strongly convinced that it's the right choice".
He said the first person he talked about in relation to the move was his predecessor Claudio Ranieri, who has taken on executive role at the club.
He also said he was impressed by the ambition and willingness to invest of Roma's American owners, the Friedkin family.
