ZAGREB, 17 June (Hina) - Rimac Technology, a company within the Rimac Group and a supplier of advanced technological solutions for the automotive industry, is developing and integrating a cutting-edge battery system and powertrain for the Bugatti Tourbillon hypercar, the Croatian company stated.
According to the statement, the Tourbillon was unveiled in late June 2024 as one of the most eagerly awaited luxury vehicles of the year, and it immediately sold out all 250 units planned for production, which will begin delivering to customers in 2026.
It is the first completely new model entirely designed and developed under the newly formed Bugatti Rimac company.
Design work is being carried out in Croatia, together with a branch in Berlin, while the full research and development, as well as component and prototype production, is also taking place in Croatia.
Final assembly will take place in Molsheim, France, the historic home of Bugatti.
Thanks to close collaboration with the engineering teams at its sister company Bugatti Rimac, Rimac Technology has designed a sophisticated 800-volt hybrid system, which is integrated with the Tourbillon’s naturally aspirated 8.3-litre V16 engine, according to the statement.
A key component of this technologically advanced vehicle, according to Rimac, is the electric powertrain developed by Rimac Technology, which includes three high-efficiency electric motors: two mounted on the front axle and one on the rear.
Together, these motors produce 800 horsepower and can reach up to 24,000 revolutions per minute (rpm). They power an e-axle that boasts one of the highest power densities in the industry, making it a standout feature in the performance of the Bugatti Tourbillon.
