Luanda, June 17, 2025 (Lusa) - Angolan hoteliers anticipate a surge in business and a positive impact on the sector from the US-Africa Business Summit, scheduled for June 22-25 in Luanda, an event they believe will stimulate tourism and foreign investment in the country.
The president of the Angolan Hotels and Resorts Association (AHRA), Ramiro Barreira, said that the sector is prepared to respond and accommodate the large number of participants at the meeting, noting that the Angolan capital has more than 15,000 beds available for accommodation.
Speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola, Barreira emphasised the importance of the summit, believing it would bring promising prospects in terms of revenue for the sector, which he said had all the necessary conditions in place to accommodate the delegations.
"In terms of catering, we have many restaurants that can help develop our tourism and our travel agencies can indeed play a very important role, working with all the tour operators to take all our visitors to see not only our restaurants, but also our culture," said the president of the AHRA.
From 22 to 25 June, Luanda will host the 17th edition of the US-Africa Business Summit, the most important business forum between the United States and the African continent.
For Ramiro Barreira, the Luanda summit is an important moment "to promote Angola as a tourist destination and as a country where major investments can be made".
"This will be a great opportunity and will stimulate investment in various sectors that can help the development of our country," he emphasised.
More than 1,500 participants - including heads of state, prime ministers, African ministers, senior US government officials and business leaders from both continents - are expected in the Angolan capital for this event co-organised by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and the Government of the Republic of Angola.
In addition to the host and President of Angola, João Lourenço, the heads of state of Botswana, Duma Boko, Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, Ethiopia, Taye Atske Selassie, Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and Zambia, Hakande Hichilema, have already confirmed their attendance, as well as prime ministers from various African countries.
