Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Porto summer music programme starts Thursday with dozens of concerts

Porto, Portugal, June 16, 2025 (Lusa) - Dozens of concerts, ranging from classical music to pop, jazz, rock and electronic music, make up the Verão da Casa (Summer at home) programme at Casa da Música in Porto, which begins on Thursday and runs until September 6.

"From the night of São João [June 23–24], in the square in front of Casa da Música, to the rentrée, on Avenida dos Aliados, Verão da Casa is synonymous with diversity of formats, genres and stages. “There are dozens of concerts covering symphonic repertoire, contemporary music, rock, pop, jazz, world music, MPB, electronic music, fado, philharmonic bands and much more,” says Casa da Música in the presentation text for the Verão da Casa programme.

The shows are divided between the terrace, Sala Suggia, Sala 2, Sala Ensaio 1 and the loading dock.

On the terrace there will be shows, all with free admission, by TT Syndicate, Enio, Trinka, Ricardo Dias Gomes, Sebástian and Arthur Nogueira, among others.

Also free are the performances scheduled for the night of São João, at the Cais de Carga. Porto’s ‘longest night’ opens with Tio Jel, continues with Ena Pá 2000 and ends with a DJ set by radio presenter Fernando Alvim.

The venues will host shows by, among others, the Casa da Música Children’s Choir, Patche di Rima & Poeta Lit G, the Portuguese Symphonic Band, João Rosa Quinteto, Bill Callahan, Jozef van Wissemim and Jim Jarmusch, the Orff Orchestra of Porto and Margareth Menezes.

Verão da Casa also takes place ‘outdoors’, with free performances by the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra in cities in the Porto Metropolitan Area, including Vila Nova de Gaia, on July 12 at Arrábida Shopping, and Maia, on July 19 in Praça Dr. José Vieira de Carvalho.
