ATA - Sadushi: Consistency in legal interpretation is a fundamental mission in strengthening rule of law

TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ The High Court of Albania hosted the Conference of Chief Justices of the High Courts of Central and Eastern Europe today in Vlora.

Chief Justice Sokol Sadushi emphasized in his speech at the Conference of Chief Justices of the High Courts of Central and Eastern Europe that Albania is hosting this event again after 13 years, marking its commitment to judicial cooperation and European legal standards

Chief Justice Sokol Sadushi emphasized that this conference aims to continue the dialogue and cooperation toward a more independent, transparent, and unified justice system in the region.

Chief Justice Sokol Sadushi emphasized the symbolic significance of holding the conference in Vlora, a city deeply rooted in Albania’s history of independence. He highlighted that in 1912, Vlora became the birthplace of Albanian statehood, marking the end of 500 years of Ottoman rule and laying the foundations for modern Albania.

Sadushi underscored that this location reflects the justice system Albania aspires to build—independent, transparent, and modern. He emphasized that true independence is not just territorial liberation, but also the freedom of thought and institutions from influences that might undermine the principles of justice

Chief Justice Sokol Sadushi emphasized that the judiciary today faces global challenges that transcend national borders. From the impact of technology and globalization of legal matters to the dangers of misinformation and external interference in judicial affairs, courts everywhere must navigate increasingly complex issues.

He underscored that every conflict, regardless of its nature, ultimately reaches the doors of the courts, making inter-judicial dialogue more crucial than ever. Only through open communication, exchange of best practices, and shared experiences can the region’s judicial systems identify common concerns and develop sustainable solutions rooted in shared principles of justice.

Chief Justice Sokol Sadushi underscored the vital role of consistent legal interpretation in reinforcing the rule of law, safeguarding legal stability, and ensuring judicial integrity.

Sadushi highlighted the delicate balance between national and international legal obligations, stressing the need for careful judgment, adaptability, and ongoing cooperation. He also emphasized the importance of consistent judicial standards, including efficient case handling, uniform application of laws, and smart use of digital tools, to ensure modern, effective, and trustworthy courts.

Sadushi emphasized that the strength of a judiciary lies in its unity and shared vision, with the fundamental goal of ensuring that justice truly serves its purpose.

He asserted that the message this conference will send across is that justice is established and sustained through judicial cooperation, adherence to legal frameworks, and the safeguarding of fundamental human rights. He emphasized that this approach strengthens interjurisdictional trust, promotes harmonization of legal standards, and upholds judicial independence and procedural integrity.
