Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Lisbon stock market closes up on day, bucking European trend

Lisbon, May 29, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed up on the day on Thursday, with the benchmark PSI index rising 0.20% to 7,375.80 points, boosted by the performance of Ibersol and Mota-Engil, as it bucked the trend on most of the main European markets.

Of the 15 listed companies that make up the PSI, 10 rose and five fell in Thursday's session.

The rises were led by Ibersol, which is due to present its first-quarter results on Friday, with the company's shares rising 4.63% to €9.94. Mota-Engil, meanwhile, which announced contracts with Brazil's Petrobras, saw its shares rise 3.90% to €4.58.

Also rising were Altri (1.51% to €5.37), Corticeira Amorim (1.30% to €7.78), BCP (0.85% to €0.69), CTT (0.55% to €7.37), Jerónimo Martins (0.27% to €22.56), EDP Renováveis (0.17% to €8.61), Semapa (0.11% to €17.58) and EDP (0.03% to €3.50). 

The falls were led by Sonae, which fell 1.94% to €1.22, followed by Galp Energia, down 0.36% to €13.95. 

Also down were Navigator (-0.17% to €3.45), REN (-0.17% to €2.91) and NOS (-0.13% to €3.85). 

In the rest of Europe, the main indices closed down, with London and Paris losing 0.11% each, Frankfurt falling 0.44% and Milan dropping 0.36%. Only Madrid closed in the green, up 0.11%.
