ATA - Albanian Alps Painters featured at NGA Exhibition in Shkodra

TIRANA, April 19 /ATA/ “The National Gallery of Arts mounted the exhibition of the project ‘Albanian Psychology in Visual Arts’ in Shkodër.”

This marks the wrap-up exhibition of the project, which on this occasion made its way to Shkodra, a key historical and cultural hub of Albania.

This project was led by Olsi Laska, with the participation of art scholar Suzana Varvarica Kuka. The exhibition will welcome art enthusiasts at the Shkodra Art Gallery for a month, staying open until May 17.

The exhibition “Idromeno, Shkodra: The Queen of Arts and the Artists of the Alps” features 113 artworks by 76 renowned artists from the regions of Shkodër, Lezhë, Malësia e Madhe, Mirditë, Laç, Kukës, Pukë, Peshkopi, and Tropojë — a testament to Western influences and the development of modern art in Albania.

This exhibition carves out a unique visual space by highlighting the distinctive features of the city of Shkodër and presenting significant works by early Albanian artists. Under the influence of Western ideals, these artworks mark the birth of secular and modern Albanian art, breaking away from traditional religious-themed art.
