NNA - AMAN and the Mediterranean Games Committee join forces to promote major international event

NNA – An international event will take place on Thursday, April 17, in Taranto: in collaboration with the Organizing Committee of the 20th Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026, AMAN (Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies) has organized a seminar dedicated to the much-anticipated multidisciplinary sporting event that will make the city a protagonist in 2026.

The seminar, entitled “The 20th Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026: A Legacy of Sport, Sustainability and Multicultural Dialogue,” will be held in the picturesque setting of the Aragonese Castle, within the Conference Hall set up in the IN Italia Village aboard the Amerigo Vespucci. The historic sailing ship and training vessel of the Italian Navy will be docked at the castle’s quay from April 16 to 22, offering a unique experience to the attending authorities and participants.

“Through this collaboration with AMAN, we aim to introduce the city of Taranto — centerpiece of the 2026 Mediterranean Games — to the countries of the Mare Nostrum region and showcase the intense work we are doing to ensure top-level hospitality for all participants: athletes, delegations, media, sports enthusiasts, and lovers of our territory,” said Massimo Ferrarese, Government Commissioner and President of the Organizing Committee of the XX Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026.

“For this event with AMAN, we strongly wanted the Amerigo Vespucci to be present in Taranto — a symbol of excellence, sport, and passion that we share with the ‘Queen of the Seas.’”

Stefano De Alessandri, CEO of ANSA and President of AMAN, added:

“The Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN), currently chaired by ANSA, aims to strengthen cooperation among the region’s news agencies and shares the core values of the Mediterranean Games: friendship, peace, and respect.

Bringing together more than 20 news agencies in Taranto in anticipation of the 20th Mediterranean Games, alongside the presence of the Amerigo Vespucci and the IN Italia Village, is an opportunity to promote shared values and deepen the network of information exchange across the Mediterranean basin.”

Underscoring the importance of the event for both the city and the Games, the presence of Ministers Hon. Tommaso Foti and Dr. Andrea Abodi is expected, highlighting institutional support for the initiative and its relevance for the region and Mediterranean dialogue.

The seminar represents a significant contribution to dialogue and knowledge-sharing in preparation for Taranto 2026, aiming to strengthen the bond between sport, culture, sustainability, and inter-nation dialogue within the Mediterranean region.
