At the end of January 2025, the Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) ratio of the banking sector increased marginally to 6.3% from 6.2% at the end of December 2024, the Central Bank of Cyprus said on Thursday.
The CBC published on Thursday updated aggregate Cyprus banking sector data (non-performing loans data) with reference date 31 January 2025.
In a press release, it says that at the end of January 2025, the Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) ratio of the banking sector increased marginally to 6.3% from 6.2% at the end of December 2024. The coverage ratio of NPLs with provisions remained stable at 58.3%, corresponding to €0.9 billion, unchanged from the end of December 2024.
The increase in NPLs at the end of January 2025 is mainly attributed to negative migrations into the NPLs categories and currency fluctuations.
Total restructured loans of Authorized Credit Institutions at the end January 2025 stood at €1.3 bn, of which loans of €0.7 bn continued to be classified as NPLs.
