Luanda, April 11, 2025 (Lusa) - Inflation in Angola fell 1.38% in March compared to February 2025 and registered a year-on-year variation of 23.85%, with a decrease of 1.41 percentage points compared to March 2024, the Angolan national statistics institute (INE) announced on Friday.
When comparing the prices of March this year with the prices of March 2024, the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) shows that the year-on-year variation is 23.85%, a decrease of 1.41 percentage points, reads a note from INE.
The index registered a variation of 1.38% from February to March 2025, according to the Statistics Institute.
The fall in inflation in March confirms the downward trend in prices seen in Angola over the last eleven months, that is, since May 2024, according to INE data.
The ‘transport’ sector saw the biggest increase in prices, with a variation of 1.83%. Also noteworthy were the price increases in ‘alcoholic beverages and tobacco’ with 1.77%, ‘hotels, cafés and restaurants’ with 1.75% and ‘clothing and footwear’ with 1.62%.
The provinces with the lowest price variations were Lunda Sul (1.34%), Malanje (1.23%) and Luanda (1.18%). Bié (2.09%), Moxico (1.88%) and Cabinda (1.88%) were the provinces that saw the biggest price changes in the period.
