Lusa - Business News - Angola: International flights should be moved to new Luanda airport by 1 June

Luanda, March 28, 2025 (Lusa) - The transfer of international passenger flights to Angola's new "Dr António Agostinho Neto" International Airport (AIAAN) should be completed by 1 June, the Ministry of Transport (Mintrans) said.

The new airport, around 40 kilometres from Luanda and replacing the current "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, began operating passenger flights gradually and should have completed the process of transferring domestic and international flights by 31 March 2025.

For the time being, AIAAN only receives domestic flights.

A note released today by Mintrans states that the airlines operating in Angola must carry out this transition gradually, with the complete migration of operations by the announced deadline.

Mintrans also emphasises that the process of transferring to the new airport serving the Angolan capital "has shown positive progress, with a significant increase in passenger satisfaction, who have been experiencing the benefits of a more modern and efficient airport".
