TIRANA, March 27/ATA/ The Oriental Museum “Bratko” in Korça is home to some of George D. Mborja’s silhouettes. These works are preserved in their original format, framed and marked with the name of the character, the date and place of creation, and signed by the artist himself.
Mayor of Korça Sotiraq Filo shared a photo album of these silhouettes in the social media, which he described as a mastery cut out of paper and engraved in history.
This special graphic art is called after the French “Scissorette”, while with precise cuts on black paper George D. Mborja created silhouettes of portraits with elegance and precision.
For over 20 years, he created thousands of figures in the USA, a large part of which are preserved at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.
George Dhimitër Mborja was born in Korça and then, at the age of 17, he emigrated to the USA where he also completed his studies in art schools.
