Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with PSI index up 0.8% bucking Europe trend

Lisbon, March 26, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock exchange closed Wednesday trading up 0.80% to 6,887.17 points, with gains of more than 2% by CTT and Sonae, and in contrast to most of the main European markets.

In today's session, of the 15 listed companies in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Market Index), 12 rose and only three fell.

Leading the risers were CTT and Sonae, which advanced 2.57%, to €7.58, and 2.32%, to €1.06, respectively.

Also up were Galp (1.42% to €15.75), NOS (1.05% to €4.35), Navigator (0.92% to €3.30), REN (0.75% to €2.69), BCP (0.59% to €0.58), Altri (0.58% to €6.09), EDP (0.49% to €3.10), EDP Renováveis (0.32% to €7.93), Jerónimo Martins (0.26% to €19.62) and Mota-Engil (0.23% to €3.44).

Galp announced on Tuesday that investment in the Sines Refinery between 2020 and 2026 will amount to €1.1 billion.

Ibersol lost 0.68 % to €8.76, Semapa fell 0.38 % to €15.74 and Corticeira Amorim dropped 0.12 % to €8.

In the main European markets, only London closed in the green, up 0.30%, with Paris down 0.96%, Frankfurt down 1.17%, Madrid down 0.39% and Milan down 0.83%.

Donald Trump's successive tariff announcements have contributed to instability on the European stock markets.
