Lisbon, March 26, 2025 (Lusa) - The Papa John's pizza chain plans to open 10 shops in the Lisbon area this year, an investment of over €2.5 million and more than 100 jobs created, according to company figures released to Lusa.
Papa Johns opened a new shop in Barreiro, its first on the south bank, the pizza chain's seventh unit in the Portuguese market.
This opening is part of Papa John's expansion plan for this year, which aims to consolidate its presence in Portugal.
"We are very pleased to continue growing in the region," says the chain's Iberia general manager, Nacho González Barrajón, quoted in a statement.
He added that Papa John's "intends to open more than 10 outlets in the Lisbon area this year and be able to expand to other strategic cities in Portugal".
The investment for each shop depends on its size, but the total investment for the 10 new units in Portugal this year is estimated to be over €2.5 million and the creation of more than 100 jobs, according to figures from the restaurant chain.
