Lisbon, Jan. 21, 2025 (Lusa) - Cegid, a cloud-based business management company, is to buy PHC Business Software, strengthening its presence on the Iberian Peninsula, it said in a statement on Tuesday, without revealing the value of the deal.
PHC Business Software, based in Lisbon, has been operating since 1989. It mainly works with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and offers digital transformation services to more than 37,000 companies.
"When we reflected on the company's growth path, we knew that it would involve integrating into an international company that would value our culture and bring investment capacity at a global level," said the founder of PHC in a statement, adding that he is stepping down as head of the company.
According to Cegid, João Sampaio, previously director of the company's International Business Unit, has been appointed general director of PHC Business Software with effect from today, and will be integrated into Cegid immediately, reporting directly to the general director for Iberia, Latin America and Lusophone Africa, Javier Torres Ramirez.
When questioned by Lusa, the company declined to disclose the value of the acquisition, citing confidentiality.
The purchase of PHC Business Software follows the recent acquisition of EBP in France and Microdata in Spain.
Cegid also recently signed an exclusive agreement to buy sevdesk in Germany.
