Lisbon, Dec. 3, 2024 (Lusa) - Portugal's flag carrier TAP announced on Tuesday two new direct routes to the USA, between Lisbon and Los Angeles and between Porto and Boston, starting in May next year, according to a statement released by the carrier.
TAP said that ‘the flights between Lisbon and Los Angeles will start on 16 May 2025 and will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays until 26 May, after which a fourth weekly frequency will be added on Saturdays until 25 October,’ and that ‘the flight will last 11 hours and 20 minutes’.
This route will be operated with ‘Airbus A330-900 aircraft, with capacity for 298 passengers’, he emphasised.
In turn, ‘the flights between Porto and Boston will start on 14 May next year and will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays until 25 October’, he said, and will last ‘6 hours and 35 minutes’.
The route will be served by Airbus A321-Long Range, with capacity for 168 passengers, the company said.
TAP also announced that, ‘as of 3 June 2025, one of TAP's weekly flights between Lisbon and San Francisco, on Tuesdays, will make a stopover in Terceira, thus allowing the company to offer a new direct flight between the Azores island and California, in order to serve the large Azorean community living there’.
At the moment, the airline flies from Lisbon to seven US airports: New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, Washington DC, San Francisco and Chicago. From Porto it flies to Newark.
