Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Microsoft opens AI innovation centre in Lisbon

Lisbon, Nov. 13, 2024 (Lusa) - Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it has opened an Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation centre, dubbed the AI Innovation Factory, in Lisbon, in collaboration with Accenture, Avanade, and Unicorn Factory Lisboa.

The centre is located in the AIhub of Unicorn Factory Lisboa, in the Alvalade district of Lisbon. The company said in a statement that its main objective is to "accelerate the adoption of AI by public and private companies from all sectors".

The AI Innovation Factory extends over 170 square metres, offering work and training spaces.

There is an open space area and brainstorming spaces, and the centre can also hold conferences.

For the companies that join, there will be three work phases, including an "envision workshop aimed at key decision-makers from the different areas of the companies, during which they will have access to industry and technology experts, demos and real cases", followed by strategy discussions and the drawing up of an "implementation roadmap".

"The programme closes with three moments: "architecture design sessions" aimed at designing the technical requirements for implementing the AI solution; "rapid prototype workshops" to implement key ideas in sprints of two to three days; and an integrated training programme with the possibility of a certificate," Microsoft explained.

As part of this project, which has been developed at Microsoft's facilities in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, as well as at the headquarters of the other partners, "AI training programmes have already been delivered in seven different sectors, focusing on different departments and functions within organisations".
