ZAGREB, 11 Oct (Hina) - Croatian government prepared draft amendment to road safety legislation whereby definitions of self-driving vehicles and automated driving are introduced.
The existing legislation does not contain terms and conditions for the development of automated driving systems and their application in traffic, and therefore the law concerned should be amended through new provisions, Interior Ministry State Secretary Irena Vuksanović Petrijevčanin said.
The draft amendment, tabled to the parliament, adjusts the law to EU rules, that is to the revised General Safety Regulation which was was adopted on 27 November 2019 and which applies from 6 July 2022.
It regulates accountability for accidents involving such vehicles, among other things.
"Self-driving cars can be used in an exclusively restricted test area under the defined conditions in order to reduce any risk to other participants in traffic, said Vuksanović Petrijevčanin.
