Lisbon, Aug. 28, 2024 (Lusa) - The Mota-Engil group made a €49 million profit in the first half of the year, an increase of 65% compared to the first half of 2023, it announced on Wednesday.
According to a statement released today by the construction company to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), in the first six months of the year, the net profit attributable to the group was €49 million, "which represents an improvement of 65%".
In the period under review, turnover rose by 7% compared to the first half of 2023, standing at €2.73 billion.
Earnings before tax, interest, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at €396 million, up from the €352 million recorded in the same period last year.
"The growth of 7% in activity and 13% in EBITDA in the engineering and construction business stands out, with an EBITDA margin of 14%, one of the best records among European counterparts in the infrastructure industry, with the Latin American region being the largest contributor in terms of turnover and EBITDA," the document reads.
The group's order book grew by 6% compared to December 2023, to €13.7 billion, an evolution justified by the signing of "larger average size, long-term contracts".
According to the same note, the level of the order book makes it possible to "reinforce the conviction in the fulfilment" of the objectives for 2024 and to continue a "virtuous cycle of sustainable growth" for the group.
On Tuesday, Mota-Engil shares rose 0.7% on the Lisbon stock market to €3.45.
