Lisbon, July 12, 2024 (Lusa) - Colep Packaging on Friday announced the purchase of the remaining 60% of Barcelona-based aluminium aerosol producer ALM, two years after it acquired 40% of its shares, and plans to invest more than €15 million to strengthen the unit.

"This operation, together with the recent entry into Mexico, reaffirms our vision for the aerosol segment and is part of the company's growth strategy," said Colep Packaging's CEO, Paulo Sousa, in a statement.

According to the same statement, ALM is expected to achieve sales of more than €16 million this year and, by 2026, the company aims to double its production capacity for aluminium aerosols.

To this end, a post-acquisition expansion plan with an investment of more than €15 million is planned, essentially aimed at improving infrastructures and strengthening the production capacity of the Barcelona plant, enabling it to supply the Iberian and wider European markets.

ALM produces and sells aluminium packaging solutions for the food, beverage, cosmetics, personal care and household care industries and has been in business for over 35 years.

Colep Packaging is a company in the Porto-based RAR Group, with over 50 years' experience in metal and plastic packaging and an annual turnover of €128 million.

The company currently employs around 630 workers at its facilities in Vale de Cambra (Aveiro), Kleszczów (Poland), Navarra and Barcelona (Spain) and Querétaro (Mexico).
