Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index off 0.9% against Europe trend

Lisbon, Oct. 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Friday, with the PSI index falling by 0.86% to 9,267.50 points, bucking the trend seen across the rest of Europe.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 12 fell and four rose.

BCP led the fallers, dropping by 3.30% to €1.10.

Also of note were Sonae SGPS, which fell by 1.91% to €2.05, NOS, which dropped by 1.52% to €5.19, and Corticeira Amorim, which fell by 1.19% to €6.64.

Shares falling by less than 1% included Altri (€4.22), Jerónimo Martins (€17.13), Galp (€22.51), Navigator (€3.06), Semapa (€19.14), Teixeira Duarte (€0.44), REN (€3.54) and Ibersol (€9.85).

Conversely, leading the gains was Mota-Engil, which rose by 1.40% to €4.65, followed by EDP Renewables, which rose by 1.23% to €12.32.

EDP (€4.80) and CTT (€5.74) posted gains of less than 1%.

Elsewhere in Europe, Frankfurt rose by 1.13%, London by 1.06%, Paris by 0.95% and Madrid by 0.55%.
