NNA - The Indian Embassy marked Mahatma Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary and the International Day of Non-Violence with events in Beirut and Ibl al-Saqi.

Ambassador Noor Rahman Sheikh highlighted Gandhi’s principles of truth and non-violence, while an updated Arabic edition of a book on Gandhi’s life was launched.

In South Lebanon, the embassy and Indian UNIFIL contingent held a "Unity for Peace" march and ceremony at Mahatma Gandhi Park.

Sheikh also announced plans to double India’s fully funded ITEC training opportunities for Lebanese civilians from 75 to 150 seats and highlighted ongoing local development projects.
