Porto, Sept. 28, 2026 (Lusa) - Authorities lifted the emergency alert at Porto Airport at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday after an A330 aircraft made an emergency landing due to smoke in the cabin, and emergency services continue to assist at the scene.

According to a source from the Porto Metropolitan Area Sub-Regional Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, the emergency landing of the A330, travelling from Barcelona to Boston (USA), meant 14 passengers required medical assistance.

Four of them went to São João Hospital in Porto due to smoke inhalation.

The emergency alert ended at 7:30 p.m., and ambulances and medical vehicles will remain at the scene, the same source added.
