Lisbon, Sept. 25, 2026 (Lusa) - The ministers for finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, and parliamentary affairs, Carlos Abreu Amorim, will present the broad outlines of the proposed State Budget for 2027 to the parties represented in parliament between Monday and Wednesday.

On Monday, at parliament, from 5.00 p.m., the ministers will receive the parliamentary groups of Chega and the PS in one-hour meetings.

On Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., the government will hold a joint meeting with the PSD and CDS-PP, followed, until 5:00 p.m., by meetings with the parliamentary groups of Livre and the PCP, and then with the sole Members of Parliament from the Left Bloc, PAN and JPP. Joaquim Miranda Sarmento and Carlos Abreu Amorim will receive the Iniciativa Liberal parliamentary group on Wednesday at 5.00 p.m.

Parliament will hold a general debate on the government's proposed State Budget for 2027 on 27 and 28 October, with the final overall vote scheduled for 24 November.

By law, the government must formally submit its draft State Budget to parliament by 10 October. Because 10 October falls on a Saturday this year, the deadline extends to 12 October, the following Monday.

In a message posted on social media on Friday, Portugal's minister of parliamentary affairs said presenting the broad outlines of the Budget is «a commitment of this government».

«We hope that this draft State Budget will be approved so that Portugal can continue on its upward economic trajectory and enjoy the political stability we all desire,» added Carlos Abreu Amorim.
