Lisbon, Sept. 25, 2026 (Lusa) - On Friday morning, the GNR police counted 380 lorries taking part in the slow-moving protest organised by business owners in the earthmoving sector and said the protest ran smoothly.

 «During the event, at its peak, we counted around 380 heavy goods vehicles, with good cooperation from the organisers and a civic-minded attitude on the part of all participants,» the National Republican Guard stated in a note sent to Lusa.

The GNR also reported that the slow march held today «proceeded smoothly, with everything proceeding normally».

The police also highlighted «the cooperation of the road management authorities, notably Ascendi and Brisa, whose support helped to monitor the event and manage traffic disruptions».

The organisers of the slow march told Lusa that the protest involved 450 lorries representing 117 companies and regarded the infrastructure minister's acknowledgement that the sector had been neglected as a «first victory».

The slow-moving convoy, demanding concrete responses to rising fuel prices, reached the Coimbra Sul junction on the A1 motorway at 12:30 p.m., having set off at 7:40 a.m. from the Lordelo junction on the A42, heading southwards on the A41 before joining the A1 motorway.
