Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market trading higher on Friday morning, led by Teixeira Duarte

Lisbon, Sept. 25, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading higher on Friday morning, with 12 of the 16 companies rising, led by Teixeira Duarte and BCP, which were up 1.71% to €0.50 and 1.18% to €1.20 respectively.

At around 9.20 am in Lisbon, the benchmark PSI was up 0.49% at 9,732.49 points, with 12 companies rising, one falling (Galp, down 1.04% to €22.94) and three remaining unchanged (Jerónimo Martins at €17.85, Corticeira Amorim at €7.90 and Semapa at €20.80).

Teixeira Duarte and BCP shares were followed by those of EDP Renewables, Mota-Engil and REN, which rose by 1.16% to €13.05, 1.02% to €5.45 and 0.85% to €3.56 respectively.

Shares in EDP, Sonae and CTT rose by 0.75% to €4.83, 0.71% to €2.12 and 0.56% to €6.34 respectively.

NOS and Ibersol rose by 0.55% to €5.45 and 0.40% to €10.06 respectively.

The other two companies whose share prices rose were Navigator (up 0.37% to €3.27) and Altri (up 0.11% to €4.74).

In Europe, the main stock markets opened higher today, against the backdrop of a further slight fall in Brent crude prices – although the price per barrel remained above $106 – and possible progress towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

The euro was slightly stronger against the dollar, gaining 0.04% and trading at $1.1384 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.

Yet another day in which oil price movements are the main focus for investors.

Oil prices are falling, with the price of the benchmark Brent crude contract in Europe dropping by 0.28% to $106.30.

Tehran has proposed a seven-day plan to Washington to cease hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and subsequently begin comprehensive talks on Iran's nuclear programme.

The Iranian proposal came as US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian were delivering their speeches at the United Nations.

Trump threatened Iran with «annihilation» if no agreement were reached, whilst Pezeshkian told world leaders that his country would not be intimidated.

US index futures are up by 0.12% for the Dow Jones and 0.39% for the tech-heavy Nasdaq.

Yields on ten-year government bonds remain high, but today those for Germany and the US fell to 3.587% and 5.170% respectively – levels not seen for over 20 years.

Yields on ten-year Japanese government bonds hit a new high today, their highest in more than three decades, due to concerns about inflation.

Highlights on today's macroeconomic calendar include consumer confidence indices for Germany, the UK and the US.
