Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks trading mixed with index in the red, PSI at 9,620.24 points

Lisbon, Sept. 23, 2026 (Lusa) - The main Portuguese share index, the PSI, traded in the red on Wednesday, reversing its opening trend and diverging from the positive European trend.

At 9:45 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI stood at 9,620.24 points, down 0.38%, with nine shares falling, five rising, and Altri (€4.74) and Corticeira Amorim (€7.01) remaining unchanged.

NOS led the losers, down 1.74% to €5.38, followed by EDP Renewables (-1.51% to €13.02) and EDP (-1.17% to €4.80) among the stocks posting losses of more than 1%.

REN fell by 0.84% to €3.53, whilst Jerónimo Martins and Sonae both fell by 0.71%, to €18.17 and €2.10 respectively, whilst CTT lost 0.63% to €6.26.

Ibersol (-0.40% to €10.00) and Semapa (-0.24% to €20.85) were also down after more than an hour and a half of trading.

Conversely, three other listed companies gained more than 1%: Galp rose 1.60% to €22.19, BCP rose 1.16% to €1.18, and Mota-Engil rose 1.07% to €5.20.

Teixeira Duarte and Navigator posted more modest gains, rising by 0.21% to 0.48 euros and 0.18% to 3.26 euros, respectively.

The main European stock markets opened higher today after a mixed close the previous day, while awaiting the meeting between the Presidents of the United States and China and as oil prices fell.

Investors are closely watching the meeting in Washington between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, hoping for an extension of the current trade truce.
