Luanda, Sept. 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Angolan Government on Wednesday accepted three bids in the International Tender for the concession of the right to operate, manage and maintain the Caio Deep-Water Terminal in Cabinda province, the Ministry of Transport announced.
In a statement, the ministry said that bids had been submitted by the bidders África Global Logistics (AGL), SOGESTER (Sociedade Gestora de Terminais, S.A.) and the MISG Consortium.
África Global Logistics (AGL), a company belonging to the MSC Group, is an international transport and logistics operator, with a presence in Africa and operating in logistics, transport, port management and supply chain-related infrastructure.
In Angola, AGL operates at the country's main logistics hubs and has direct experience in the national port sector, including the management of the multi-purpose container and general cargo terminal at the Port of Lobito.
SOGESTER, established in 2007, operates in Angola's port and logistics sector, providing services for the loading, unloading, handling and storage of containers, as well as logistics solutions for various economic operators.
The company operates port terminals in Luanda and Namibe and, this year, began managing the maritime terminals at the ports of Cabinda and Soyo under a 20-year concession in the same region where the Caio Deep-Water Terminal is located.
As for the MISG consortium, it comprises Multiterminais, Lda., the Social Security Institute of the Angolan Armed Forces (ISSFAA), SISTRANS and Grupo Terra Sul, Lda.
Multiterminais, Lda. is an Angolan company specialising in the operation and management of port terminals and is the concessionaire of the General Cargo Terminal at the Port of Luanda, whilst the ISSFAA is a public-law body, endowed with legal personality and administrative, financial, asset and management autonomy, responsible for managing the Angolan Armed Forces' Social Protection System.
The third company in the consortium, SISTRAN, «is built on a technical foundation established since 2007 and operates from Angola, with a presence in Mozambique, Namibia, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates», the statement notes.
Grupo Terra Sul, Lda. is an Angolan business group with interests in logistics, distribution, trade and investment.
«All have been provisionally accepted. Bidders have up to five working days to rectify the identified shortcomings and submit missing documentation,» states the Ministry of Transport.
The Caio Deep-Water Terminal is one of Angola's major port and logistics infrastructure projects.
The tender was launched by the Ministry of Transport on 9 April this year and provides for the concession of this infrastructure for a period of 20 years, covering the rights to use and operate the public port assets allocated to the terminal.
Situated around eight kilometres from the city of Cabinda, the Caio Deep-Water Terminal was designed for both containerised and non-containerised operations, with a capacity for vessels of up to 5,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units).
