Vila Velha de Ródão, Portugal, Sept. 8, 2026 (Lusa) - The fifth and final round of the Formula 2 Powerboat World Championship will take place at the Vila Velha de Ródão jetty, in the district of Castelo Branco, over the weekend of 25–27.
«This is an important event for the region from both a tourism and economic perspective, as demonstrated by the presence of the many drivers and their teams who, throughout the year, choose our municipality as a training base for other competitions,» said the mayor of Vila Velha de Ródão.
In a statement sent today to the Lusa news agency, Vítor Carmona also highlighted the support of the municipality's residents and the many visitors who, year-on-year, «count this stage as a fixture in the municipality's events calendar».
This is the seventh consecutive year that Vila Velha de Ródão has hosted this event, organised by the Portuguese Powerboat Federation, under the auspices of the International Powerboat Union and in partnership with the local council.
This is the fifth and final round of the 2026 F2 Powerboat World Championship, following rounds in Klaipėda (Lithuania), Brindisi (Italy), San Nazzaro (Italy) and Peso da Régua (Portugal).
The competition will take place at the river quay in Vila Velha de Ródão, on a 1,577-metre circuit bounded by the Portas de Ródão gorge.
Organisers expect twenty drivers from 12 countries to take part, including the Portuguese rider Duarte Benavente, who was crowned world champion in this discipline in the 2020 season.
The 25th is set aside for the teams' reception and technical and administrative checks, whilst free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on the morning and afternoon of the 26th, respectively.
On the morning of the 27th, warm-up sessions and the repechage race will take place, with the Vila Velha de Ródão Grand Prix being held in the afternoon, starting at 3:30 p.m.
