ANSA - Some 75 million euros from EU for 50 young Italian researchers

22 projects involve Italy, sixth behind Germany, the United Kingdom, and France

The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded approximately 75 million euros to 50 young Italian researchers, including those working abroad, through 'starting grants': funding dedicated to supporting scientists at the beginning of their careers.
Italians thus rank second after the Germans (84) and ahead of the French (30).
The total European funding amounts to 705 million euros for 421 projects.
Of these, only 22 will be carried out in Italy, which ranks sixth in the ranking, led by Germany (89), the United Kingdom (47), and France (38).

172 women, or approximately 41%, have received the award.
