Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market bucks European trend, ends green at 9,478.42 points

Lisbon, Sept. 1, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed in positive territory on Tuesday, with the PSI rising 0.44% to 9,478.42 points, driven by gains among energy-sector companies.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, 10 closed in the green, five experienced modest declines, and BCP remained unchanged at €1.12.

Companies linked to the energy and construction sectors drove the PSI's performance.

In the energy sector, Galp Energia rose 1.03% to €21.62, whilst EDP gained 0.90% to €4.72. EDP Renováveis, meanwhile, rose 0.81% to €13.77.

In the construction sector, Teixeira Duarte rose by 1.16% to €0.48, whilst Mota-Engil advanced by 1.14% to €4.80.

Also posting gains of over 1% were the paper manufacturer Altri, which rose 1.28% to €4.75, and Sonae SGPS, which rose 1% to €2.03.

At the other end of the scale, Semapa led the way down, falling by 2.12% to €20.75, followed by NOS, which lost 1.07% to €4.98.

In the other major European markets, Germany's DAX fell by 1.10%, Spain's IBEX-35 fell by 0.75%, France's CAC-40 fell by 0.39%, and the UK's FTSE 100 fell by 0.32%.
