Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index up 0.4%, led by BCP

Lisbon, Aug. 28, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Friday, with the PSI index rising 0.44% to 9,430.91 points, following the positive trend seen on the main European markets.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), eight closed higher, six were in the red and two – Sonae and Semapa – remained unchanged at €2.01 and €20.70, respectively.

BCP led the gains, rising 1.17% to €1.12. Next came EDP Renewables, which rose by 0.73% to €13.83, and Corticeira Amorim, which advanced by 0.71% to €7.07.

Meanwhile, EDP rose by 0.69% to €4.70, Nos to €4.99 and Galp Energia to €20.83.

On the other hand, among the losers were Ibersol, which fell by 0.58% to €10.36, Teixeira Duarte, which fell by 0.31% to €0.48, and Jerónimo Martins, which lost 0.17% to €17.97.

Also worth noting are Mota Engil, which fell 0.17% to €4.81, and REN, which fell 0.14% to €3.51.

Elsewhere in Europe, Paris rose 0.98%, Madrid 0.81% and London 0.29%, whilst Frankfurt gained 0.77%.
