American actress Faye Dunaway will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening of the 2026 edition of the Kinéo Award, a collateral event to the September 2-12 Venice Film Festival, on September 5, organisers said Thursday.
The award, conceived and directed by Rosetta Sannelli (president of Kinéo Associazione Culturale), returns this yar to the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, "of which it is a historic collateral event to celebrate a special milestone: its 25th anniversary," according to a statement.
The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 5th.
Supported by the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture (DGCA-MIC), the 2026 Kinéo Award will once again this year bring together "protagonists of Italian and international cinema and television, in an ideal journey through different cultures, genres and languages: from great American cinema to Latin American productions, from Europe to the East, with particular attention to the extraordinary growth and vitality of the Turkish audiovisual industry".
The recognition goes to 85-year-old Dunaway, "one of the greatest icons in the history of American cinema", the citation reads.
Winner of the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Sidney Lumet's Network (1976), Dunaway has spanned over half a century of great cinema: from Bonnie and Clyde (1967) alongside Warren Beatty, which earned her her first Oscar nomination, to Roman Polanski's Chinatown (1974) alongside Jack Nicholson, up to Mommie Dearest (1981), in which she plays the role of Joan Crawford.
Over the course of her career, she has also won three Golden Globes, a BAFTA, and an Emmy, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
"This recognition is dedicated by the Kinéo Award to a leading figure in international cinema, celebrating her talent, personality, and a career that has spanned eras, genres, and generations," it is emphasized.
She will be joined by Nicola Peltz Beckham, who will receive the Rising Star Award.
The two actresses "will soon be together on the big screen in the independent film Prima.
"Based on an original story by Nicola, who also produced the film, it marks the directorial debut of the Morelli brothers (Luca and Alessandro)." Alp Navruz, one of the stars of the series Be My Sunshine, arrives from Turkey, while Oka Giner, who starred in the series Las hijas de la senora Garcia, is expected from Mexico.
Among other awards, the award for Best Supporting Actress goes to Maria Gifuni, while Best Leading Actress goes to Chiara Francini.
Raniero Monaco di Lapio and Sara Lazzaro have been awarded for the TV series and streaming section.
